Afternoon everyone !!!
Yes, finally got the chance to sit down and do some typing ! Oh my, can you say calgon take me away ??? LOL !! What a day today and weekend it will be for sure !! Need to stock up on my boxes of tissue for tomorrow and later tonight !! Today marks our 6th month anniversary of the Ef-2 tornado we had on Feb 28th of this year. It leveled and destroyed half of our town/community. It took one life.It was an emotional night for ALL of us that live here. It took out completely the Methodist Church that sat a block behind me. Tornado's are such an odd thing of destruction, I say that as it took and destroyed my back neighbors above ground swimming pool and wrapped it in the tree next to their house but it did NOTHING to our house/property. When I met the governor of Ks a few days afterwards and told him our story, as well I told him however we did lose EVERYTHING in a house fire but God blessed us as our angels watched over us during the tornado as we had NO damage or debris. He said very humbly I might add, " you already had your loss hon, don't feel guilty,feel grateful " Ohhh, sir you have no idea how grateful I/we are !!!! I don't care what people say the governor of Ks. is a very very kind man !!!! So, on this particular anniversary we are having our 75th Harveyville fair !!! It means so much to sooooo many of us to have this fair --its symbolic in so many ways !!! For the adults it is a feel good comfort time a time to step back and remember our childhood days when we attended the fair, for the kids of the community it means a day to be free a day to run and have fun and BE A KID !!!! This year the theme is "Hero's Near & Far "" We lost a town hero that night, a volunteer firefighter named Rick Slade !! Our hearts were sad for a long time and still are reflecting that night and the losses we faced as a community !! But, it is a special community. A time that we ALL banned together to help rebuild our community !! A time we ALL banned together just to be there for each other while we watched them tear our friends/fam members houses down as they were unlivable !!! So, yes its a bittersweet day and you may be so tired of me sharing about it but hey ohhhh well !!! Deal with it that is how I roll !! :) My family grew up here and I kinda did too I used to come out and stay with my grandparents on weekend during the times we had the Labor Day Rodeo. And, now I am raising my son out here, something I never ever thought I would be doing !!! Moving back to my roots !!!! It was a total God deal the day I found the house of my dreams for sale on the computer. Then, come to find out my cousin had built the house, distant cousin. How cool huh ??? I say so, may not mean nothing to you but it meant everything to me !!! As well, right now my mother in law is sick, she was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks ago. We are having family/cousins come into town tonight !! So, time for me to put on my Bewitched kinda face and get busy !!! LOL !!! So, remember my community in your thoughts and prayers as google informs me everyday hundreds of people are reading my blog but hey no followers yet !! LAME !! Hopefully, that will change soon !!!! But, there will be LOTS of tears this weekend I am sure -- a different kind of fair for sure !! Saturday after the royalty announcement there will be an unveiling memorial tribute for and from that night, Feb 28th 2012. That, is why I say there WILL be tears don't know bout anyone else but I will be getting the tissues ready !!! SIGH !! Have a most bluesified weekend my friends !!!
